Malverne Students, Faculty Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

High School Student Council collects food and supplies for families impacted by Superstorm.

Immediately upon returning to school earlier this month following Superstorm Storm, members of Malverne High School’s Student Council organized a food drive to benefit those affected by the hurricane.

Wanting to do as much as they could for their neighbors in need, the entire staff and student body have been collecting non-perishable food items, toiletries and reusable bags to donate to the cause. For now, the collection is intended to be ongoing and the student council is currently coordinating a fundraiser to benefit local East Rockaway hurricane victims.

Pictured with student council advisor Kim Rossi are student council members: seniors Emmanuel Adeyeye, Brianna Michael, Deja Mitchell, Amanda Witowski and Emily Valentino; juniors Kyle Jackson, Kayisha Ulysse and Tiffany Nagasawa; and sophomores Nick St. John, Sydney Witowski and Melani Montgomery.
