Man Charged With Breaking Into, Robbing Multiple Cars: Police
Police say Fayez Algammaz smashed the windows on multiple cars and stole items from inside, including jackets, cash and credit cards.

WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Brentwood man was arrested over the weekend and charged with breaking into and stealing from multiple cars in West Hempstead.
According to police, a man called around 10 p.m. on Feb. 28 and reported that the driver's side window of his car was shattered, and his credit cards, license and cash were stolen.
On March 1, the man's credit card was used to make a purchase at 7-Eleven at 136 Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead. A short time later, another purchase was made at the Bolla Market at 101 Hempstead Turnpike, also in West Hempstead.

Police say their investigation led them to arrest Fayez Algammaz, 31, of 4th Avenue, Brentwood, in West Hempstead at 11 a.m. on March 6.
According to police, the investigation found that Algammaz was responsible for other incidents, all of which occurred on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead on Feb. 28:

- 2004 Camry and 2005 Scion had passenger-side windows shattered. Nothing was taken.
- 2020 Jeep had front and rear passenger-side windows shattered. Headphones were stolen.
- 2017 Honda Accord had rear passenger-side window shattered. A bottle of cologne was stolen.
- A Honda CRV had the passenger-side window shattered. Two coats were stolen.
Algammaz was charged with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree criminal mischief, two counts of second-degree identity theft, third-degree identity theft and three counts of petty larceny. He was arraigned on March 7.
