Nassau Bringing Pop-Up Vaccination Clinic To Elmont
There will be more clinics to follow, with the next coming to Glen Cove.

ELMONT, NY — Nassau County will be holding a community vaccination clinic in Elmont this weekend as part of its effort to help hard-hit communities get through the pandemic.
The vaccination clinic in Elmont will be the second community-specific vaccination effort undertaken by the county. It had previously administered shots in Hempstead, which is the community hit hardest by the pandemic.
"We have seen that COVID-19 has had a disproportionate impact on communities of color," said Nassau County Executive Laura Curran. "We've been working closely with educators, faith leaders and trusted community messengers to build confidence in the safety of this vaccine and to increase access in communities like Elmont."

The pop-up vaccination clinic will be held at Elmont Memorial High School. Local leaders will reach out to community members to find those to get vaccinated. Curran said the clinic will administer 1,000 vaccines.
Curran also said the county is working on bringing another pop-up clinic to Glen Cove, but did not provide details on when it will be. She said her administration is also talking with community leaders on the Great Neck peninsula to set up a clinic.

Additionally, Curran said the county will be opening pre-registration this week for vaccination appointments at its other sites at Nassau Community College, the YES We Can Community Center and at LIU Post.
"We're going to do everything we can to make sure we give as many people access [to the vaccine] as possible," Curran said.
