Nassau Legislator Asks For Increased Reward To Find Acid Thrower
The family of the 21-year-old Elmont woman who was attacked with acid in her driveway believe upping the Crime Stoppers reward will help.
ELMONT, NY—Police are still searching for the attacker who threw acid on 21-year-old Nafiah Ikram in March in her Elmont driveway. Last week, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages wrote a letter urging Nassau County Executive Laura Curran to increase the Crime Stoppers award for information about the incident.
Ikram's family and the Democratic lawmaker from Lawrence believe upping the award, currently at $20,000, could help with the investigation.
The college student was attacked at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17 at her home on Arlington Ave. The male suspect is described as approximately 6’2” tall, with a skinny build and wearing a black colored sweatshirt with a hood and wearing gloves.

“The family believes that someone in the community has information on this attack, and that the Crime Stoppers reward should be further increased to ensure that information is received,” Legislator Solages said in the letter.
“Therefore, Nafiah Fatima’s family and I respectfully request that the Crime Stoppers reward be increased for any information regarding the March 17 assault.”
A GoFundMe page has raised over $530,000 for Ikram's medical expenses.
