Nassau Man Barricaded Himself In Home With Gun: Police
Police say it took lots of talking with a hostage negotiator to get the man to come out.
ELMONT, NY — A Hempstead man was arrested Friday after Nassau County police say he barricaded himself in an Elmont home.
According to police, officers responded to a call at 2:20 p.m. for a domestic disturbance at a home on Jacob Street. When they arrived, police say they found that Chad Williams, 33, of Emery Street, Hempstead, had been in an argument with a 22-year-old woman. During the argument, police say Williams pulled out a handgun. The woman tried to call 911, but police say Williams grabbed her phone to stop her. The woman was able to find a different phone and called 911.
When the officers arrived, police say Williams refused to leave the home. The police created a perimeter around the house and Emergency Service Unit, Bureau of Special Operations and Hostage Negotiation team arrived.
