Nassau Police Officers Rescue 4 Elderly Residents From House Fire
Police helped the Elmont four residents out of the burning home and took them to a hospital.
ELMONT, NY — Police officers rescued four elderly residents from a house fire in Elmont Saturday evening.
According to police, the fire broke out around 5 p.m. at a home on Catherine Court. Nassau County Police Officers Monahan, Tomeo and Errante were the first on the scene and found the home engulfed in flames. The officers helped four elderly residents — Josette, Jean and Edith Thomas and Marie Rose Elysee — to safety. They were then taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The Elmont Fire Department responded to the scene, and was assisted by the Lakeview, Valley Stream and Franklin Square fire departments to put out the blaze.

After the fire was put out, Arson/Bomb Squad detectives and Fire Marshals responded. Police say the investigation into the fire is ongoing, but it does not appear to be suspicious.
