City Seeks to Slow Down the Town

Some speed limit signs in the City of Long Beach may soon be replaced. 

Long Beach Boulevard north of East Park Avenue is the only boulevard sporting a speed limit as high as 35 mph, and the same speed limit exists on East Park between Long Beach and Maple boulevards. Both stretches of road are under Nassau County’s jurisdiction, and city officials look to ask the county to lower the speed limit on them to 30 mph, in order to conform to the maximum speed limit across city streets.

Garden Hosts Rescheduled Belmont Festival

After rain canceled the originally scheduled Belmont Festival earlier in June, Garden City was finally able to host the annual event on Friday.

Seventh Street was packed to capacity for the 16th annual festival.

The Burmese immigrant, now a Brooklyn resident, co-owns the Five Towns’ latest glatt kosher Asian restaurant — Masago — at 1034 Broadway.

“I want to give the food that real Chinese people are eating. Being kosher, it’s not that easy,” Htun said. “We’re going through the process to make it kosher.”
