NYAW to Begin Two Water Main Replacement Projects
New York American Water is investing $1.07 million to install new water mains along numerous roadways throughout Malverne

New York American Water is investing $1.07 million to install new eight- and twelve-inch ductile iron water mains along numerous roadways throughout Malverne. Both projects are set to begin on Tuesday, July 30. The improvements collectively include installing approximately 1,900 feet of twelve-inch ductile iron main and 900 feet of eight-inch ductile iron main. The scheduled construction will also replace 77 service lines, seven fire hydrants and install one additional hydrant.
“Replacing aging water mains is critical to our mission of providing high-quality water and more reliable service to our valued customers,” said New York American Water Manager of Engineering John Kilpatrick. “The revitalization and replacement of this crucial infrastructure allows us to achieve a higher degree of customer satisfaction all while modernizing our system and strengthening its resilience for the future.”

1. Wright Avenue from Linmouth Road to Ocean Avenue
- Replacing 1,100 feet of water main
- Project is expected to take four weeks to complete
2. Utterby Road from Church Street to Ocean Avenue

- Replacing 1,700 feet of water main
- Project is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete
Final restoration will be incorporated within the Village of Malverne’s road restoration project after the replacement water service lines to each home have been installed and all work has passed required quality tests from the Nassau County Department of Health.
Work will take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Residents should note that sections of the street where construction is taking place may be closed to traffic during these working hours. New York American Water will coordinate with residents in proximity with the construction site to minimize disruptions.
