NYAW Investing $1 Million To Replace Aging Water Main in Malverne
New York American Water is investing $1,050,000 to install 2,920 feet of new eight- and six-inch ductile iron water main

Malverne, NY (October 21, 2020) – New York American Water is investing $1,050,000 to install 2,920 feet of new eight- and six-inch ductile iron water main in the Village of Malverne. The project, scheduled to begin Thursday, October 22, will replace water main along Foster Avenue from Walker Street to Franklin Avenue and Webster Street from Foster Avenue to the dead end. The project will also replace four fire hydrants and 57 utility-owned service lines. This infrastructure improvement project will result in improved water pressure and water quality for customers in the area.
“New York American Water continues to invest in the Village of Malverne to remove aging unlined cast iron water mains from our system,” said New York American Water Director of Engineering John Kilpatrick. "Aging water mains cause intermittent discolored water and poor water flow, and we are pleased to make these improvements and install new water mains for our customers. We are working in partnership with the Village of Malverne to complete this main replacement project in advance of the Village’s road paving program."
Water main and service line installation is expected to take two weeks plus an additional two weeks for water main disinfection and approval to operate from the Nassau County Department of Health. Once approval is received, New York American Water will connect services to the new water main. Road restoration will be completed by the Village of Malverne.
