NYAW Replacing Additional Water Main in Malverne
New York American Water is investing $1.44 million to install new eight-inch ductile iron water mains in Malverne
New York American Water is investing $1.44 million to install new eight-inch ductile iron water mains along several intersecting roadways in Malverne. The projects are set to begin on Thursday, August 29 and include installing approximately 4,500 feet of ductile iron main. The scheduled construction will also replace 86 service lines and seven fire hydrants.
“Aging water mains contribute to the intermittent discolored water our customers experience,” said New York American Water Manager of Engineering John Kilpatrick. “Water main replacement ensures the long-term integrity of our system and assists us in delivering a high-quality product to our customers.”

- Church Street
- Church Street from Utterby Road to Ocean Avenue
- Replacing 1,800 ft of main
- Work scheduled to begin August 29 and will take approximately six weeks to complete
- Weber Avenue
- Weber Avenue from Church Street to Crimson Avenue
- Replacing 900 ft of main
- Work scheduled to begin September 5 and will take approximately four weeks to complete
- Crimson Avenue
- Crimson Avenue from Church Street to Utterby Road
- Replacing 1100 ft of main
- Work scheduled to begin September 5 and will take approximately four weeks to complete
- Tulip Street
- Tulip Street from Church Street to Weber Avenue
- Replacing 360 ft of main
- Work scheduled to begin September 5 and will take approximately three weeks to complete
- Clarkson Street
- Clarkson Street from Crimson Avenue to Ocean Avenue
- Replacing 340 ft of 6 main
- Work scheduled to begin September 5 and will take approximately three weeks to complete
Final restoration will be incorporated within the Village of Malverne’s road restoration project after the replacement water service lines to each home have been installed and all work has passed required quality tests from the Nassau County Department of Health.
Work will take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Residents should note that sections of the street where construction is taking place may be closed to traffic during these working hours. New York American Water will coordinate with residents in proximity with the construction site to minimize disruptions.
