ELMONT, NY — Nassau County police officers rescued a dog that got its head stuck in a crate Saturday morning.

According to police, a dog trainer was transporting a dog named Bentley when the dog got his head stuck in an opening meant for him to look through. Sgt. Kananowitz and officers Arbisi, Clark and Marcantonatos were first on the scene. They gave Bentley water and a blanket, and helped keep him calm.

Officers Hanrahan and Vinciguerra from the Emergency Services Unit soon responded and removed the rivets from the top of the crate. They then carefully cut through the diamond-plat metal and got Bentley out.
