Poll: Marriott Hotel in Lynbrook?

A developer is reportedly revamping its proposal to make a Lynbrook property into a six-story hotel. What do you think of the idea?

A Marriott hotel may still be on Lynbrook’s horizon.

Lee Browning Sr., of Browning Hotel Ventures, met with Lynbrook Village Board members before their most recent meeting to discuss building a Courtyard by Marriott hotel at Broadway and Langdon Place, according to the LI Herald.

This month’s push is not the first for the hotel. The project has been slowly coming together since 2013, when Browning made its first public proposal for the Langdon lot. Browning has been eyeing Lynbrook as a hotel site for the past decade, according to the report.

Browning Hotel Ventures proposes to re-develop the existing Langdon Village parking field, which is a rectangular parcel approximately one acre, located at Langdon Place,” said Browning at the July 2013 meeting. “We wish to develop it into a 156-room hotel and structured parking facility to serve the Lynbrook downtown business district.”

The project has been met with a positive response from village officials and business leaders.

“It appears to me that this facility will be a huge improvement for the village,” said Bill Gaylor, vice president of the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce, according to the report. “I, as a commercial property owner and a resident in the village, in addition to my capacity with the chamber, wholeheartedly believe that this project [would have a] huge positive economic impact on the village.”

The basic plan and structure of the hotel has not changed over the past two years. Just as Browning described in 2013, the hotel would be six stories tall and host more than 300 parking spots, according to the report.
