Strong Thunderstorms Targeting Nassau, Strong Winds and Hail Possible
More than 2,500 Long Islanders currently without power.

Strong thunderstorms packing gusty winds and possible pea-size hail are headed for Long Island.
The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement:
A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT NASSAU AND SUFFOLK COUNTIES... AT 436 PM EDT...A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WAS ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM NORTHPORT TO 23 MILES EAST OF ELBERON...AND MOVING EAST AT 50 MPH. WINDS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH AND PEA SIZE HAIL ARE POSSIBLE WITH THESE STORMS.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE... ISLIP...OYSTER BAY...HUNTINGTON...FREEPORT...VALLEY STREAM... RIVERHEAD...LINDENHURST...GLEN COVE...GARDEN CITY...SOUTHOLD... LYNBROOK...MINEOLA...WESTBURY...BABYLON...PATCHOGUE...FARMINGDALE... PORT JEFFERSON...NORTHPORT...SOUTHAMPTON AND SAG HARBOR.
As of 5:22 p.m., more than 2,525 Long Islanders were without power, according to the PSEG Long Island outage map.
