What's Open, Closed on Christmas Day in Town?

Christmas Day is here. While most businesses and institutions are closed for the holiday, some will remain open. 

Here's a list of what is open and closed: 

Closed

- All local, state and federal offices, including local libraries and the post office, are closed. 

- The Town of Hempstead garbage pickup is running on a Holiday Collection Schedule. Details can be found here.

- In the Village of Lynbrook, there will be no sanitation collection on Christmas. Wednesday recycling will be picked up on Thursday. Read more here. 

- Most retail stores.

- All banks and financial offices. 

- Schools. 

- Liquor stores.

Open 

- Many supermarkets will be open for limited hours on Christmas.

- Convenience stores such as 7-Eleven are open. 

- Movie theaters are open. 

- Most gas stations are open.

- Most Chinese and Asian restaurants the area should be open.
