Woman Charged With Manslaughter After Fatal Long Island Crash

The 27-year-old was drunk at the time of the crash early Saturday, police say.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A 27-year-old Long Island woman was drunk when she crashed her car into several parked vehicles early Saturday, killing a man who was sitting inside one of them, police said.

According to Nassau police, Tasha Brown was driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla west on Front Street at Hendrickson Avenue in Hempstead when she struck multiple parked vehicles at 4:35 a.m.

A 29-year-old Massapequa man inside one of the parked cars was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. Police have not yet released his name.

Two passengers in the Corolla–a 28-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man–were seriously injured in the crash. A third passenger, a 29-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.

Brown, of Uniondale, was admitted to the hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries.

Brown is charged with second degree manslaughter, second degree vehicular manslaughter, four counts of second degree assault, three counts of third degree assault, second degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving She will be arraigned when medically practical.
