If you're looking for a scare this Halloween, Patch has you covered. Find out where to find a haunted house near you.

Autumn is here, which means that ghosts, goblins and ghouls will soon be prowling about.
For those who love to get into the Halloween spirit, there are plenty of things to do on Long Island. There are haunted theaters, haunted houses and haunted woods. Basically, if it can be haunted, you can find it here.

Hempstead House Haunt: Dreams & Nightmares
127 Middle Neck Road, Sands Point
This Halloween, the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy invites you to Hempstead House with a new immersive horror experience. Far beyond the typical haunted house attraction, a new kind of horror unfolds with you and your companions as a part of the story. Visitors to this primal world will delve into the madness which resides beyond the veil of sleep, as performers transport the audience — sometimes alone — into the bizarre, beautiful and grotesque world of dreams and nightmares. Individuals sensitive to tight spaces and complete darkness should be cautioned. The mature content of the performance is not appropriate for those under 16.

Tickets are $40 per person. The haunt is open on Oct. 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 30 and 31 from 7 to 11 p.m. each night.
Bayville Scream Park
8 Bayville Ave., Bayville
The Bayville Scream Park is a Halloween theme park. It features attractions like The Temple of Terror, Uncle Needle’s Funhouse of Fear, Evil in the Woods and more. It has been named the scariest haunted house on Long Island many times. This year, to keep the scares going, Bayville Scream Park is holding "Glowstick Fright Nights" on Nov. 1, 2 and 3, in which groups can brave their haunted attractions with only a single glow stick for light.
Ticket prices vary, but the pass for all six attractions is $49.75. It also features “Not So Scary” days on the weekends for kids and families. The box office opens at 6 p.m. every day and the attractions open at 7 p.m. The park is open from Sept. 27 through Nov. 3.
Horse Ability’s Haunted Hay Barn
223 Store Hill Road, Old Westbury (SUNY Old Westbury Campus)
Come on down for a frightful night roaming the many creepy rooms, sure to hit a nerve with any and all of your deepest fears. The Hay Barn takes place in the historic 1912 Broad Hollow Barn that has a few more ghosts and ghouls in it than the ones we brought in.
The attraction costs $13 per person, and is open from 6 to 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 12-28. The haunt is suggest for children 10 and older, and is handicap accessible. All funds raised go directly into HorseAbility, 501c3 not-for-profit organization that provides equine facilitated programs to children and adults with special needs.
Restless Souls Haunted House Complex
301 West Hills Road, Huntington Station
The Haunted House Complex offers four different, horrifying attractions. The Haunted Attractions utilize a time-tested combination of interactive and up-close actors, Hollywood-quality props and audio-animatronics, elaborate sets and controlled lighting and audio design to ensure your time with the creatures is as immersive and realistic as can be.
The attractions feature The Shack, The Dark Colony, Klownkatraz 3D and the Alien Autopsy Escape Room.
Tickets for all four attractions are $29. Admission to just The Shack is $10, and all others are $8. The attraction is open Fridays and Saturdays from 6 to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 5 to 9 p.m. starting Oct. 11.
Darkside Haunted House
5184 NY-25A, Wading River
The Darkside Haunted House is Long Island's premier haunted attraction. Come make your way through the newly expanded haunted village. Then the terror continues as you explore the new, updated haunted house. Come experience the movie-quality sets, the bone-chilling special effects and the heart-pounding scares that make the Darkside Haunted House the place to be.
The nighttime attractions are open on varying days through October. Check the website for details. Tickets for the nighttime attractions are $30, or $40 for the RIP Fast Pass.
Chamber of Horrors NY
1745 Express Drive North, Hauppauge
The Chamber of Horrors is one of Long Island’s most popular haunted houses. This year, there are four attractions. The Board Room is a live stage show that puts audiences in the middle of the chaos. Guests will be treated to a show that explains the backstories and characters behind all three haunted houses being featured this year. The show includes gory visuals, intense audio, live actors, special effects and more. There are also three haunted houses: Silent Evil, Malevolence and Cold Blood.
The show opens on Sept. 28, and then is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 4-27. It is also open Oct. 30, and Oct. 31 is Full Contact Night. Standard tickets are $35, and the RIP Pass is $45.
Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse
215 South Country Road, Bellport
The Haunted Playhouse, one of the scariest haunted houses on Long Island. It features a professional set and costumes, as well as fantastic actors who draw you into the horror — for better or worse.
It’s open multiple days from Sept. 27 through Nov. 2, with some times being less scary for children. There are a variety of different shows this year, too. Tickets are $30 online and $35 at the door, and $40 and $45 for the Fast Pass Admission.
Schmitts Farm Haunt
26 Pinelawn Road, Melville
Voted one of the scariest haunted houses on Long Island, the Schmitts Farm Haunted House has been running for 25 years. Try to survive the Melville Asylum, where The Director has created a place of terror. Then, try to survive the Psycho Path Corn Trail.
The haunt is Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in October, as well as Oct. 14, 24, 30 and 31. Tickets are $27.99 for the Melville Asylum and $17.99 for the Psycho Path Corn Trail. Combo tickets for both attractions are $37.99.
Darkness Rising
800 Chettic Ave., Copiague (360 Sports Center)
This year, Darkness Rising features an entirely new haunt. Set in the mid 1600's, your group will journey through a cursed village whose people are either dead, missing or worse. As you search for the survivors, something becomes disturbingly clear — there is evil in the darkness.
Admission is $25 per person. The haunt is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in October, Oct. 24 and on Halloween.
North Patchogue Fire Department House of Horrors
33 Davidson Ave., North Patchogue
This year, come out to one of Long Island's newest, and scariest, haunts. The North Patchogue Fire Department has partnered with Hell House Productions, which started doing home haunts on the front lawn in Medford. After five years of scaring neighborhood families and the opportunity to expand, the North Patchogue Fire Department has given them a new home and created NPFD House of Horrors. The haunt is even bigger this year and has expanded an extra 900 square feet.
Doors open for the first time on Oct. 4 from 7 to 11 p.m. The haunt is open every Friday and Saturday during October and Oct. 24 and 31, and Nov. 1 and 2 from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door, and are $25 per person. Cash and credit accepted.
Yaphank Trail of Terror
65 Main St., Yaphank (Yaphank Presbyterian Church)
Located on the grounds of the Yaphank Presbyterian Church, this half-mile-long trail through the woods will take you 12 terrifying minutes to complete, with no place to run or hide. Utilizing the darkness of the woods to it's maximum potential, you'll have plenty of time between scenes to contemplate what might be next or what that noise was that you heard. In addition to the trail, there's also plenty to do if you're too scared to walk. And for 2019, the trail is adding new scenes and rearranging some favorites. There will be a classic thriller/horror movie playing in the field every night, as well as a bonfire and concession stand, as well as a human hamster ball track.
The trail is open Oct. 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26 from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $12.
Deepwells Haunted Mansion
2 Taylor Lane, Saint James
Deepwells Mansion is known for an abundance of paranormal activity throughout the year. In October, the mansion open its doors and welcomes everyone in to tour the screamingly horrific Deepwells Haunted Mansion. Explore room after room, floor after floor, of horrific scenes and creepy clowns, spiders galore and scientific experiments gone wrong. Good luck finding your way through the dimly lit hallways. And just when you think you survived, think again! In order to exit, you must also make your way through the Terrifying Trail — the woods on the haunted grounds of the mansion.
The trail is open Oct. 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26 from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person.
Spooky Fest at Tanglewood Preserve
1450 Tanglewood Road, Rockville Centre
The Center for Science Teaching and Learning celebrates Halloween with Spooky Fest. Sixteen acres are transformed into a family friendly Halloween event. Wooded paths, exhibits and festivities on the preserve will be featured, with eerie lighting, special effects and characters along the way. Everything is perfectly spooky and a little scary. The event features a walk through the Haunted Woods, a not-so-spooky walk through the woods for children, a kids arts and crafts area, live animal exhibits, face painting and more.
Spooky Fest is open Oct. 12, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27 and Nov. 2 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., rain or shine. Tickets are $10 for the non-scary attractions only, and $15 for the whole experience.
Cemetery of Lost Souls
350 Broadway, Massapequa Park
The Cemetery of Lost Souls is a charity haunt built at a home in Massapequa Park. It features terrifying, home-made scares.
The haunt is open Oct. 12, 18, 19, 25, 26, 31 and Nov. 1 and 2 from 7 to 11:30 p.m. each night (10 p.m. on Halloween). Tickets are just $8.
Nightmare on Scouting Boulevard
7 Scouting Blvd., Medford
Narrow hallways guide you through various rooms with different themes to prey on your deepest fears. All proceeds of this attraction benefit the Suffolk County Council of the Boy Scouts of America and it's programs for the youth of Suffolk County.
The haunt is open on Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26 from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $10.
Manor Farm Haunted Trail
210 Manor Road, Huntington
Come for a walk by the hauntingly historical buildings and ghoulishly grassy field. You'll have a chance to follow one of the guides as they walk by some of the Hauntingly Historical buildings, through the Ghoulishly Grassy field and Wander the Woods. Revel in the stories of what happened and what might have happened at this historical farm site. Then make your way through the wooded trail of wonder before trying to escape the night through the mysterious meadow of mayhem. The proceeds go to the Manor Farm Fund — helping to continue bringing the public low-cost and free education programs at Manor Farm.
The walk is open Oct. 18, 19 25 and 26 at 5 p.m. Tickets are $7 per person.
