Annual Merrick Fall Festival Offers Local Food, Entertainment and Shopping
The Merrick Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival will take place Sep. 25-27 and offers food, fun, shopping and entertainment

The Merrick Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival will take place Friday through Sunday, Sep. 25, 26 and 27. Local businesses and community organizations will be on display, sharing information about their products and services. Many of Merrick’s restaurants will be cooking up a storm at the festival all weekend for attendees to enjoy.
Friday night the annual event opens with rides on the carnival midway. Saturday and Sunday the street fair closes down Merrick Avenue from W. Loines Avenue (at RS Jones/Purick Park), south to Sunrise Highway. Proceeds from this annual event go towards lighting up the town during the holiday season.
The opening ceremony will take place on the showmobile at 11 a.m. on Saturday at intersection of Smith St. and Merrick Ave. with a performance by the Calhoun Choir under the direction of Sanford Sardo.

The full schedule of entertainment at the Town of Hempstead Showmobile is below, it will be located at the intersection of Merrick Ave. and Smith St.

11 a.m. - Calhoun High School Choir – opening ceremony
12-1 p.m. - Bad Dog
1:30-3 p.m. - Jim and Chuck
3:30-4:30 p.m. - Elvis (aka Steve Mitchell)
SUNDAY
11 a.m. - 1 p.m. -The Parade (John Pizzo)
1:30 - 2:30 p.m. - Robbie Rosen
3-5 p.m. - Playback
The Merrick Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival has grown over the years and is now a must-stop for many crafters and artisans from all over the east coast. Crafters will have booths set up displaying their creations.
Carnival rides by Newton Shows and live entertainment will be ongoing throughout the weekend. At the gazebo, near Broadcast Plaza activities from Mad Science LI and a children’s Magic Show with Mark can be found. Live music will also be performed at the north part of the fair sponsored by RS Jones Restaurant.
Commuters should note that LIRR parking will be limited beginning Wednesday, September 23.
