Coronavirus In NY: CDC Issues Travel Advisory For Tri-State Area

Residents are advised to avoid all non-essential travel for two weeks, according to the federal government.

NEW YORK STATE — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a travel advisory for the Tri-State area due to the high number of coronavirus cases being experienced in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

On Saturday, the CDC issued a domestic travel advisory for the three states, which urges residents to avoid non-essential travel for 14 days in order to stop the spread of the virus. It is, essentially, the same order that was already in place for New York.

Employees of essential businesses and services are still allowed to travel, and "have a special responsibility to maintain normal work schedules," the order says.

The order will not be enforced by the federal government. Rather, the governors of each state are responsible for its enforcement.
