Hicksville Grad Drafted to Play Professional Soccer

County officials honor Tim Parker, who was selected in the 2015 Major League Soccer Draft.

Tim Parker, a Hicksville High School alum, will be playing Major League Soccer this upcoming season with the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The captain of the St. John’s Red Storm soccer team in his senior season, Parker was selected as the 13th overall pick in the 2015 Major League Soccer Draft. Parker was the first St. John’s player ever to be picked in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft and is the highest Red Storm selection since 2004.

Parker – his mother is a registered nurse and his father, a police officer – is known for his hard work and dedication, and did not miss one practice in four years at St. John’s.

“My mom and dad have always kept me honest,” Parker said, according to the Vancouver Whitecaps website. “I’ve been humble but I’ve also been able to be proud when I can be … they always make sure I have the right head on my shoulders.”

Parker was honored Wednesday by Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Leg. Rose Walker.
