Karl Jenkins Requiem at Grace Church

A concert of profound emotion and reflection

Karl Jenkins' Requiem made Sunday's memorial concert at Grace Episcopal Church a memorable one. Grace Church's own Organist and Choirmaster, David A. Hairston, II skillfully rehearsed and conducted the Grace Choir and Orchestra. The singing of was delightful and awe inspiring. Additional highlights included outstanding solos, duets and trios featuring Tanisha Anderson, Verdean Brown, Shannon Dugan, and Jodi Zhao. The choir and orchestra were a celestial force with voices projecting well into the church, its fine acoustics adding to the audience's listening pleasure.
The orchestra comprised of a harp, timpani, cymbals , flute, violins, violas, cello, bass, tubular chimes and other percussion instruments. Members of the orchestra consisted of conservatory and university educators, local school music teachers, music students a candidates seeking to complete their Doctor of Musical Arts degree - traveled from as far as New Jersey and Connecticut.
This event was in memory of past Grace members, family and friends. Their names were listed in the program as Lynn Savin read them aloud.
Congratulations to all who took part in this concert and for their fine work. It was a concert of profound emotion and reflection.
