Lightning Strike Causing Painful Commute On LIRR

BREAKING: It's another rough day on the rails for LIRR commuters. GIve one a hug today.

Long Island Rail Road commuters were dealing with headaches on the rails Wednesday morning as weather-related issues led to service suspensions and delays.

Signal trouble near New Hyde Park has caused major problems on the Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson and Oyster Bay branches. There were delays averaging 45 minutes on those branches, the LIRR said on Twitter at 8:42 a.m.

"PSEG is on scene troubleshooting the power issue, which is affecting our signals," the railroad said.
