LONG ISLAND, NY — Clear, sunny skies and warm temperatures are in store for most of this week, but there are dangerous currents predicted for the beaches.

According to the National Weather Service, Long Island is looking at temperatures in the 60s for most of the week, with nighttime lows in the upper 40s.

Skies will be sunny and clear for most of the week, the NWS said, until Friday, when there is a chance of rain. That chance will carry on to the weekend, as well.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the NWS is expecting beach flooding and erosion during the high tides, due to an offshore tropical storm. There could be six to 10 foot surf and increased dune erosion.

For the whole week, there are also dangerous rip currents and longshore currents that could be dangerous to swimmers.
