Massapequa Athletes Commit To Colleges

Seven seniors celebrated their commitment to colleges in New York and Connecticut.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — Donning the attire of their future colleges, seven student athletes from Massapequa High School made their plans official at a signing celebration on April 22. They were joined by their parents for the special occasion, as well as Principal Barbara Lowell and Director of Physical Education, Health, Athletics and Recreation John Piropato.

The group will join collegiate teams in New York and Connecticut. From the girls soccer team, Kaitlyn Kilmeade will play for Union College, while Caroline Brucato and Amanda DeVito will both head to Mount Saint Mary College.

Sean Wilde will join the cross-country team at Molloy College and Vincent Simonetti plans to run for both the track and cross-country teams at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Timothy Dolan will play baseball for the University of Bridgeport and Lucia Gargiulo will play softball for Utica College.

Lowell, in her congratulatory remarks to students, said this year’s senior athletes truly embody perseverance and resilience. She wished them well in their post-Chiefs careers and also thanked the parents for their commitment and dedication.
