Massapequa Breaks 56-Year Streak with McGuire Cup Win

For the first time in more than half a century, an Eastern New York team takes the title.

Massapequa Arsenal Soccer Club has won the McGuire Cup for boys under 19.

The team defeated the Scott Gallagher Soccer Club of St. Louis 3-1 on Saturday, according to Big Apple Soccer.

We know what the McGuire Cup means,” Massapequa coach Tobias Bischof said, according to U.S. Youth Soccer. “We know it’s the oldest youth competition in the U.S., and has been around for 80 years now. We knew there were only [four] New York teams who have ever won it. Now, the boys have found a way to win it and bring it back to New York, and we’re really happy about that.”
