Massapequa Native Richie Sens Dies At 62

The television editor, who had won two Emmy awards, died unexpectedly on July 4.

Richard E. Sens, Jr., a Massapequa native who was living in North Conway, New Hampshire, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 4. He was 62.

Richie, as he was known by friends and family, was born in Massapequa to Emma (Mirone) and Richard Sens Sr.

Sens enjoyed summers boating with his family and close friends all around Long Lake, skiing in the White Mountains with his daughters and wife, and he lived for motorcycling with his uncle around New England. He and his son enjoyed working side by side togetheron any project that was thrown at them. On summer nights, he loved to have lobster bakes with his family or a simple barbecue on the deck at the lake.

Sens worked as a TV editor for CBS and EUE/Screen Gems in Manhattan. During his 17 years at Guiding Light, he was awarded two Emmy Awards, in 1994 and 1996.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pamela Sens (Cash) of North Conway, New Hampshire; his loving children Joseph Sens of North Conway; Gretta Sens of Bridgton, Maine; Brooke Sens of Boston; and Adelle Sens of North Conway; his parents Emma (Mirone) and Richard Sens Sr. of Bridgton, Maine; and his sister Karen Addison and her husband Victor of St. Augustine, Florida. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

There will be a memorial mass at St. Joseph’s Church in Bridgton, Maine on Thursday, July 11 at 11 a.m. Private burial to follow.
