Nassau Coronavirus Cases By Town: 9th Community Nears 1,000

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Long Island is finally reopened, and things seem to be returning to normal. But the threat from the coronavirus is still real, and dozens of people are testing positive for the virus each day, even as the death rate drops to nearly zero.

Since the first confirmed case March 5, 45,916 Nassau County residents have been confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus and 2,201 people have died. Three Nassau residents have died from the virus in September.

Despite a low infection rate, cases continue to climb. There are now eight Nassau communities that have more than 1,000 confirmed cases, with a ninth nearing that grim milestone. Hempstead, the hardest-hit community, has had more than 2,400 cases.
