Nassau Coronavirus Cases By Community: Oct. 9
As of Wednesday, there were 64 Nassau residents hospitalized by the virus, with five of them on ventilators.
NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Long Island is finally reopened, and things seem to be returning to normal. But the threat from the coronavirus is still real, and dozens of people are testing positive for the virus each day, even as the death rate drops to nearly zero.
Since the first confirmed case March 5, 47,666 Nassau County residents have been confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus and 2,204 people have died. Two Nassau residents have already died from the virus in October, and 622 have tested positive so far this month.
According to Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, as of Oct. 7, there were 64 Nassau residents hospitalized by the virus, with five of them on ventilators.

Despite a low infection rate, cases continue to climb. There are nine Nassau communities that have more than 1,000 confirmed cases. Hempstead, the hardest-hit community, has had more than 2,471 cases.
