Seaford-Oyster Bay To Close For Repair Work Starting May 22
The work to strengthen the overpass over the Southern Parkway will likely take all summer.

Starting on Tuesday, May 22, part of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway will be closing every day so crews can repair the bridge that spans the Southern Parkway in Plainview.
On Tuesday, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., concrete barriers and temporary striping will be put down for the closures, which will affect the bridge located between exits 10 and 11 of the expressway.
After Tuesday's installation, single and double lane closures will take place on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Signs have been placed nearby and will give drivers traffic information.

The state Department of Transportation says work is expected to be completed in the fall, but could be delayed by bad weather.
The work is part of the $13.5 million NYSDOT project to extend the lives and maintain the structural integrity of six bridges in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. On the Seaford-Oyster Bay bridge, the concrete deck has been repaired and the joint systems have been placed. Underneath the bridge, the structural steel will be strengthened and painted.
