This lack of confidence in oneself and one’s abilities seems to be far more prevalent in women largely due to comparing and scrutinizing themselves to the media’s built-up, falsehoods attaining to impeccable bodies, youthfulness, and the impossible premise of having it all.

With so much unfeasible fanfare staring us in the face, pointing out our defects, and depleting our self-image, it’s no wonder that inadequacy and unworthiness rattle our senses and feelings, and can also lead to shame, anxiety, and depression.

Comparison is the culprit that needs to be put to rest. It is likely that when you rate yourself against another, you will come up short somewhere in the line-up.

This can impede or completely override one’s perception of self, and toss it in the dumpster.

Estimating the similarities or dissimilarities between subjects, forces one to evaluate with an outcome of better or worse. How do you measure up?

The good news is that it shows a difference. In a world where everyone wants to resemble someone else, comparing isolates the discrepancies that make us precisely who and what we are.

These are not to be despised, but rather, embraced and extolled for the diversity and uniqueness of you. God loves you exactly as He created you. What’s one aspect that you love about yourself? Now find another. And another…
