Tropical Storm Fay Likely To Make Landfall Near Long Island
A tropical storm warning has been issued for the region. See the latest on what impacts we can expect from the storm.

A tropical storm warning has been issued for Long Island as Tropical Storm Fay gets set to head north. The National Weather Service is now predicting that the storm, which is currently off North Carolina's Outer Banks, will make landfall near Long Island Friday night.
"The main threats with this system will be locally heavy rainfall, the potential for flash flooding, and dangerous surf conditions Friday into Friday night," the weather service says.
A flash flood will be in effect for all of Long Island from 6 a.m. until midnight Friday. A total of 1-3 inches of rainfall is likely with higher amounts possible. Emergency plans should include the potential for moderate flooding from heavy rain. Evacuations and rescues are possible, authorities say.

There is little to no threat of storm surge flooding, but rough surf, coastal erosion and life-threatening rip currents are possible.
