An Unexpected

Invitation

It was an unexpected event as I indulged in my morning cup of caffeine.

The link to the 1994 Three Tenors Concert in Brindisi flashed an invitation across my IPad screen.

And I thought, “Why not?”

The week had been a bit troubled, no major disasters, but a few decidedly irritating events, and after all today was Saturday.

My dance card is obviously rather empty these days, and I questioned, “When was the last time I had been invited to a concert?”

Consequently, I quickly refilled the Portmellion cup with more hot brew, sat back and listened.

The door to beauty, now only remembered, opened instantly with the magic of three God given voices (one forever stilled by time.)

And once again I dared to wonder, “ Why have so many of us allowed such magic to be quietly stilled as has happened to one of the remaining two vocalists?”

If God allows us to glimpse briefly into some of the beauty only He has created, who are we to say,

“Sorry, No. We, mere mortals disapprove of your instrument?”

Although my Apple playlist has many of the Three Tenors recordings, for some vague reason I never included this one.

I don’t know what accident of fate, timing or internet routed the recording into my small apartment this morning.

Indeed, however, it proved to be a welcome gift.

As I listened to the utter magic of three mere human voices joined in song, I noticed the sun shining in the courtyard.

I remembered friends I could call about dinner later in the day.

I rejoiced in anticipation of Will’s visit tomorrow afternoon.

I forgot the vague aches, complaints, and borderline depression from a troubled week

In essence I counted my blessings from my Maker and thanked him for a ticket to one of His concerts.

And yes, once again while I had serious doubts about “Me, Too,” I chose not to allow them to destroy the magic of a God given morning.
