Visionworks Shutters Long Island Locations, Lays Off Hundreds

The eye wear chain closed nearly two dozen stores and laid off more than 200 people, according to filings with the state.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The coronavirus has led to Visionworks closing its nearly two dozen Long Island stores and lay off hundreds of employees.

According to documents filed with the state, Visionworks is closing its 20 Long Island locations due to the coronavirus outbreak and the forced closure of many businesses.

The company is also laying off all of its 210 Long Island employees.

Visionworks had stores in North Babylon, Rockville Centre, Centereach, Central Islip, West Babylon, Hauppauge, Rocky Point, Massapequa Park, Garden City, East Northport, Medford, Bay Shore, Levittown, Plainview, Riverhead, Patchogue, Huntington Station, Farmingdale and two in East Setauket.
