Defending Champions NYC Polo Recapture U.S. Open Arena Polo Championship Final Held at Country Farms Polo Club in Medford
Historic championship held in Medford represents one of the highest levels of arena polo competition in the United States.
Medford, NY; July 26, 2017– Undefeated in bracket play, NYC Polo (Sam Ramirez Jr., Tommy Biddle, Jared Sheldon) returned to the U.S. Open Arena Polo Championship® Final at Country Farms Polo Club in Medford, NY, capturing its second-straight title by a score of 19-12 over Blue Stone Farms.
NYC Polo’s originally slated opponent, High Ground, was forced to forfeit after player schedules were unable to be reconciled. First time contenders Blue Stone Farms (Guilluame Gimonet, Guillermo Usandizaga, Alan Martinez) stepped up to the plate, substituting Martinez for Daniel Scott, who competed in the first two matches.
NYC Polo dominated the match, going 13/32 on field shots and 5/5 in penalty conversions. Blue Stone Farms only managed 8 field conversions on 20 shots and went 4/8 in penalty conversions while winning 7 throw-ins to NYC Polo’s 6.
NYC Polo dominated from the beginning, scoring four field goals in the first chucker, on their way to ending the half with a 9-4 lead. NYC Polo capitalized on two penalties to start the third before Sheldon widened the gap with three more tallies on his way to a 9-goal game.

Blue Stone Farms outscored NYC Polo in the final chucker with a. combined five goals by Usandizaga and Martinez and an additional penalty one, but Biddle hammered in three undefended penalties and a field goal to seize the win.
Most Valuable Player was awarded to Blue Stone Farms’ high-scorer Guillermo Usandizaga, contributing seven goals on the day. Best Playing Pony honors were presented to Cammy Boy, played by Jared Sheldon and owned by Sam Ramirez Jr.
