Employee, Customers Thwart LI Dunkin' Robbery Attempt
An employee fought back against a knife-wielding man and two customers restrained the man, police say.

MEDFORD, NY – A man's attempt to rob a Long Island Dunkin' Donuts Monday evening was foiled by an employee and two customers, police said. It happened at 5:50 p.m. at the Dunkin' at 3197 Horseblock Road in Medford.
According to Suffolk Police, 61-year-old Frank Annunziata Jr. threatened a clerk with a knife. Another employee attempted to stop Annunziata and an altercation ensued, with the employee receiving cuts on both hands in the process, police said.
Two good Samaritans intervened and were able to detain Annunziata until Sixth Precinct officers arrived, police said.

The injured employee was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Sixth Squad detectives charged Annunziata, of Medford, with first degree attempted robbery and second degree assault. He was also charged with criminal possession of stolen property for an unrelated incident, police said.

He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
