Islip Town Honors Heroes Who Saved Sayville Toddler's Life

Quick actions of several first responders helped to save Lainey Metz in July.

Islip Town officials honored several people Tuesday for their roles in saving the life of a Sayville toddler in July.

Members of the Community Ambulance Company of Sayville, the Fifth Precinct of the Suffolk County Police Department and the Bayport Fire Department were each given an official Town of Islip Certificate of Recognition for helping to saving the life of then 18-month-old Lainey Metz, who was found unresponsive in a Sayville pool.

Islip Town Clerk Olga Murray said that it was due to the quick response of all involved, as well as the teamwork, communication, and the determination to save Lainey that she now has a second chance at life.
