Medford Volunteer Ambulance Receives Donation of Pet Oxygen Masks

Pet parents can get free "pets inside" decals to alert first responders that pets in the home need rescue

The Medford Volunteer Ambulance has received a donation of two sets of specially designed pet oxygen masks to help first responders resuscitate pets rescued during house fires. The gift came from at-home pet services provider Canine Company.

The donation was requested by Ken Spiegel, past chairman of the board of the Medford Volunteer Ambulance and a first responder for calls involving animals. He is also its Chaplain.

“Our company was founded by a family of pet lovers and our mission is to help other families keep their pets healthy, safe and happy,” said Renee Coughlin of Canine Company. “We do that with the services we offer and it’s the focus of our charitable programs, too. We want to get these life-saving masks into the hands of first responders in all the communities we serve.”

Canine Company had previously donated masks to the Medford Fire Department (https://patch.com/new-york/med...), so now all of the community’s first responders are equipped with the life-saving tool.

To ensure first responders know to look for pets in a home, Canine Company is providing free “pets inside” decals that families can place on a front door or window. To request a decal, go to https://www.caninecompany.com/topic/petdecal.aspx.
