LIE Reopens After Motorcycle Crash

The crash happened on the westbound side of the Long Island Expressway near Exit 63.

UPDATE 10:15 a.m.: The LIE has now reopened. A police spokesman told Patch that the crash "turned out to be not as serious as originally thought.

MEDFORD, NY — Police are on the scene of a motorcycle crash on the Long Island Expressway Friday morning.

The crash, which occurred around 8:40 a.m., shut down the westbound part of the expressway between exits 64 and 63 in Medford, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.

Suffolk police said they couldn't provide any other details on the crash or injuries yet, but detectives are investigating.
