Over the two days, 40 Pat-Med students from ninth through 12th grade participated in over a dozen hours of rigorous debate.

From Patchogue-Medford Schools: The 17-18 Model United Nations season is underway. After the Patchogue-Medford team held its tenth annual home conference in November, they went on to participate at the Metropolitan Model United Nations Conference on December 15-16.
The conference was the 46th consecutive conference hosted by Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School.
With over 400 students in attendance, this conference is the largest of its kind at the high school level, on Long Island.
Attendees had the rare opportunity to hear from a member of the United States House of Representatives.
On the second day of the event, Congressman Tom Suozzi, representing the Third Congressional District in New York, spoke to the students of his experiences in public office.
Over the two days, 40 Pat-Med students from ninth through 12th grade participated in over a dozen hours of rigorous debate.
The topics discussed ranged from theoretical reorganization of boundaries post WWII to the energy crisis in Africa. In addition to debate, students had to represent the views of their assigned nation and work diplomatically with other students to create resolutions. The hard work of the students earned a total of 11 awards for Pat-Med over the weekend.
The Pat-Med Model UN team will be attending its next conference in January at St. Francis Preparatory High School.
The award winners are: Justin Zhou, Ronny Lospenuso, Meghan OLeary, Jess Finn, Sarah Emr, Lucien DeNeve, Genesis Guevara, Rylan Jugan, Grace Ford, John Werner and Anson Zhou.
