Police Seeking Pickup Driver Who Fled After Hitting Pedestrian

A 30-year-old homeless woman was seriously injured after being struck by the pickup truck on Long Island Wednesday morning.

MEDFORD, NY – A 30-year-old homeless woman was seriously injured after being struck by a pickup truck in Medford Wednesday morning. Police say the truck driver fled the scene.

Sixth Precinct police officers responded to Norfleet Lane at about 5:50 a.m. after a 911 caller reported an injured female lying in the road. Police determined that the woman, Olivia Thornton, was struck by a vehicle, described as a dark-colored pickup truck, that fled the scene.

Thornton was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries.
