UPDATED: The Latest On Long Island Power Outages, Severe Weather

UPDATE 9:33 p.m.: PSEG is now reporting that 1,505 of its customers are without power. Wind advisories end in Nassau at 10 p.m. and in Suffolk at 2 a.m. A hazardous weather outlook is also in effect for the entire island. Heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms will work west to east across the area into the early morning hours Wednesday with localized flash flooding possible.

A wind advisory is in effect across Long Island and power outages are racking up Tuesday. As of 4:48 p.m., PSEG Long Island is reporting that 4,187 of its customers are without power.

A wind advisory is in effect until midnight in Nassau County and until 2 a.m. Wednesday in Suffolk County. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph are expected.

"Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, in open areas and on elevated roads and bridges," the National Weather Service says. "Use extra caution."

There is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms Tuesday on the island, mainly due to the potential for damaging winds with a very low-percentage probability of a tornado, according to the weather service.

Rain will remain likely through Wednesday morning.
