Suffolk Police Make Arrest In 2020 Fatal Shooting
Dedrick Austin, 27, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Charles Barker, 48, of Brentwood​, police said.
MEDFORD, NY — A Medford man has been charged in the fatal shooting of a Brentwood man in Coram last October, Suffolk County police said Thursday.
Homicide detectives charged Dedrick Austin, 27, with second-degree murder in the death of Charles Barker, 48, of Brentwood, police said. Barker was found on the ground in front of Fillmore Court with a gunshot wound at about 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 14 by 6th Precinct officers responding to a 911 call.
Barker was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Austin is being held overnight at the 6th Precinct in Selden and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
