Wind Advisory in Effect; Power Outages Reported on LI

BREAKING: See which towns are dealing with power outages this morning. A wind advisory is in effect for the island.

The rain is coming to an end across Long Island, but wind gusts up to 45 mph through Friday morning have the potential to cause some problems.

A wind advisory is in effect until noon. Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are possible, the National Weather Service says.

As of 8:39 a.m., more than 1,500 PSEG Long Island customers are without power, according to the PSEG outage map (click the link to see outages by town). More than 4,000 outages were reported earlier in the morning.

Friday- Mostly cloudy through mid morning, then becoming sunny, with a steady temperature around 66. Breezy, with a northwest wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph.

Friday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers after 5am. Mostly clear, with a low around 46. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph.

Saturday- Showers likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 58. West wind 6 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 47. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph.

Sunday- Increasing clouds, with a high near 60. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 52.
