Teen, Man Killed In Meadowbrook Crashes; Many Injured

Danyel Saint-Louis, 17, of Freeport, and Jagdeo Ramdayal, 70, of Elmont, were killed in two crashes on the Meadowbrook State Parkway.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A teenager and a 70-year-old man were killed in two crashes on the Meadowbrook State Parkway Wednesday night.

According to police, the first crash occurred at 7:14 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the parkway near Exit M6 when 17-year-old Danyel Saint-Louis, of Freeport, lost control of his car and struck the center median. The vehicle rebounded and came to rest on the right shoulder, police said.

Two drivers stopped to help Saint-Louis and multiple people got out of both cars. A fourth car struck two of the people and one of the parked cars. A fifth car hit Saint-Louis, who had got out of his car. He died at the scene, police said.

Five other people were taken by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center. One person had serious injuries.

The second crash occurred at 8:26 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the parkway, between exits M7 and M8. Police said Jake Lonigro, 17, of Merrick, was heading north on the parkway when he lost control of his car, crossed the center median into the southbound lanes and struck a van head-on. The van was driven by Jagdeo Ramdayal, 70, of Elmont.

Ramdayal's van struck a third car that was also heading south. Ramdayal died at the scene. A passenger in his car was rushed to Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital with serious injuries.
