Businesses and Queens BP provided lunch to TSA employees
Federal employees at the Bulova Corporate Center who were impacted by Government shutdown provided lunch during the government shutdown
East Elmhurst, New York - Brad Blumenfeld, Vice President of the Blumenfeld Development Group (BDG) was joined by Melinda Katz, Queens Borough President and Ian Wilde, General Manager of Lessing’s Café to provide lunches to employees of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employed at the Bulova Corporate Center, 75-20 Astoria Blvd., East Elhurst, who were affected by the recent government shutdown.
The partnership delivered approximately 225 lunches to employees of the TSA, one of the many federal agencies who worked without pay during the longest government shutdown in American history. Additional lunches were provided a week later as the shutdown slowly came to an end.
“There is no better gift than to have the ability to help our tenants in a time of need and for such a worthy cause,” said Brad Blumenfeld, Vice President, Blumenfeld Development Group. “It is extremely unfortunate that as a result of this shutdown this program had to be established, but it’s absolutely the right thing to do. And if the government shuts down again, we are prepared to repeat this effort.”

Blumenfeld added, “We were honored to have Queens Borough President Melinda Katz join us and support the residents that work and live in her Borough and letting them know that she’s got their back. We also want to thank Lessing’s Café who is a great corporate partner and had no hesitation when asked to be part of this very important initiative.”
“What today does is so much more for these employees than we could ever do. They were just so happy that someone is noticing what they’re going through while the federal government is fighting over the budget,” expressed Queens Borough President Melinda Katz. “We are so grateful for the Blumenfeld Development Group and Lessing’s Café, who are doing what they can in order to help these employees who have not yet received a paycheck.”

“As minimal as it may seem, we’re happy to help these employees during this very difficult time,” said Ian Wilde, General Manager of Lessing’s Café. We are committed to helping our fellow tenants as long as we have to.”
The partnership had pledged to provide lunches to the TSA, which is a tenant of the Bulova Corporate Center, in the event a federal shutdown resumes.
