Driver Killed In Fiery Crash On Meadowbrook Parkway

Police say the driver was speeding on the parkway when they left the road and struck the "Welcome to Jones Beach" sign.

MERRICK, NY —New York State Police are investigating a fatal car crash on the Meadowbrook Parkway Tuesday morning and asked anyone with information to come forward.

A driver was speeding south on the parkway at 8:05 a.m. when they left the road and hit the "Welcome to Jones Beach" sign at Exit M10, according to police.

The car caught fire, killing the driver, police said. The driver has not yet been identified, and police have not yet determined the cause of the crash.
