Fire Tears Through East Rockaway Garage

Sixty firefighters from several neighboring departments battled an early morning garage fire in East Rockaway Sunday, according to Nassau County Police.

Emergency personnel rushed to the West Boulevard home at 3 a.m. after a report of a garage fire, cops said. First responders discovered the garage at the rear of the home was “fully engulfed in flames,” police said.

A total of 60 firefighters responded from neighboring departments, including East Rockaway, Oceanside, Lynbrook, Rockville Centre, and Hewlett to tackle the blaze, officials said.

Three adjoining properties and three cars were damaged in the fire but no one was hurt, police said.

The fire was deemed not suspicious, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing.
