Flash Flood Warning Issued For Southern Nassau
BREAKING: Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for southern Nassau County. It's in effect until 8:15 p.m.
At 6:18 p.m., doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. One to two inches of rain have already fallen, with rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour occurring. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly, the NWS says.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Levittown, Valley Stream, Garden City, Massapequa, Lynbrook, Farmingdale, Kennedy Airport, Hempstead, Elmont, Baldwin, Wantagh, East Meadow, Franklin Square and Uniondale.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
