Former Calhoun Teacher Passes Away

Margaret Monfort Holmes, a resident of North Merrick and a former teacher at Calhoun High School died on April 7. 

She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Holmes and the mother of Daniel Monfort, Gerald Monfort and Claire Monfort. She was also the sister of John, Dorothy and the late Jerry Curtin. 

Holmes is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 

Visiting will be held on Tuesday from  2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the N.F. Walker Funeral Home, which is located at 2039 Merrick Ave. in  Merrick. The funeral mass will be Wednesday at  9:45 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. 

Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
