Former North Merrick EMT Todd Alfred Kappel Dies at 49

Todd Alfred Kappell, who grew up in Merrick, died at his home in Delaware Monday at 49. 

Kappell was predeceased by his parents Alfred Fritz Kappel and Gladys Walker Kappel. 

As a teenager, Kappel began volunteering as a junior cadet with the North Merrick Fire Department. He continued to serve with their fire service and as an EMT before relocating to Maryland.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary Joseph-Kappel. He is also survived by siblings, Brett Kappel and Linda Goodwin.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services in Georgetown and also Sunday, Oct. 27, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Ellendale United Methodist Church, with funeral services to begin at 2:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in Ellendale Cemetery.
