Hempstead Town To Resume Recycling Collection On May 4

Recycling collection had been stopped for a month due to staffing issues caused by the coronavirus.

HEMPSTEAD TOWN, NY — The Town of Hempstead Department of Sanitation will resume recycling collection on Monday, May 4 after a month of no pickups.

The coronavirus caused staffing issues at the department, and the town was forced to cancel recycling pickup on April 6 to protect the health and safety of workers.

Starting May 4, residents are asked to resume placing recyclables at the curb for pick up on their regularly assigned day. If you are unsure of your assigned recycling or waste collection days, you can call the Department of Sanitation at 516-378-4210.
